Adelaide is the capital of South Australia and home to over one million people. It is one of the least expensive capital cities in Australia to live. Adelaide has a very cosmopolitan atmosphere and its multi-ethnic population has meant that a wide variety of cuisine is available. The City is the gateway to the serene Adelaide hills to the east and beautiful sandy beaches to the west. Adelaide is surrounded by many wine districts to the north, south and east, about one hours drive from the city. Adelaide is the home of many well known festivals, including the Adelaide Festival of Arts, Adelaide Fringe Festival, WOMAD Festival, Tour Down Under and V8 Touring Car Racing.
accommodation
The school does not provide accommodation but can assist with referring students onto to accommodation providers.
enrolment and registration process
- The candidate is required to complete an Application Form and International Student Registration Form and return the completed forms along with supporting documents described on the form by fax to +61-8-8223-1802 or by email to international@ahts.sa.edu.au
- The school will asses the candidate’s application and academic background and determine if a place will be offered to the candidate. If successful, the candidate will be notified and sent a Letter of Offer from the School which, on receipt, must be signed by the candidate and returned to the School together with a non-refundable Registration Fee of AUD $150.00.
- On receipt of the signed Letter of Offer by the School, an International Student Registration Form will be sent to the candidate for completion. This form must then be returned to the School.
- Once the School has received the completed International Student Registration Form, course enrolment details, tuition fee payment schedule information and a program timetable will be sent to the student.
student health cover
Each student is required to maintain an Overseas Student Health Cover with an approved health fund (such as Medibank Private or AHM) and evidence must be supplied prior to enrolment. For those students enrolling from offshore, the school can assist with arranging health cover.
student visa
International students are required to hold a student visa, sub-class 572 to study at the school. Evidence of this visa must be supplied prior to enrolment. If a student does not hold the appropriate visa at enrolment, evidence must be supplied that an application has been made to Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).
students undertaking paid work
Students can undertake paid work whilst in Australia up to 20 per week without the permission of DIAC, unless their visa prohibit this.
program intakes
The school has two intakes per year for Hospitality courses (February and July) and four intakes for Tourism (February, April, June and September)
program vacancies
The next intake for 2010 will be in July for Hospitality and June for Tourism.
